What are some of the best storage brands for a garage? We moved into a brand new house and have tons of tools/power tools and just stuff to put away....Craftsman seems to be going downhill. Any ideas? Thanks!
Do landlords have to disclose these kinds of things? I lost a lot of property that I stored in my garage and connecting storage area due to a flash flood. My neighbors have informed me that this has happened many times but my landlord never told me of this possibility. He claims this has only happened once, 7 years ago, and it was because the city's storm drains were clogged. He has offered no compensation, only help removing ruined property. I have renter's insurance but it doesn't cover floods.
anyone know where to shop for affordable garage storage systems. I like units they sell at Sears by Craftsmen and Gladiator but they are out of my price range. I've checked Home Depot and Menards already. I don't want rubbermaid type. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've looked at Home Depot, Lowes, Osh- the usual suspects. Does anyone have other recos, even online sites, where I can get garage cabinets for cheap in the SF Bay Area, preferable the South Bay? I'm not looking for anything fancy, simple white cabinets will do.
They are wood cabinets. Right now they are painted flat white (big mistake, shows everything, impossible to clean). I want a clean light look. The garage is for storage, but I cleaned up the "spider corner" by painting the inside of the cupboards white. I was so encouaged by the improvement that I want to do more improving!
Gladiator is a nice line, but expensive. I see they have a cheaper line called Gladiator Cadet. They look very similar to STACK ON. Does anyone know if they are made by the same company? I'd like to buy some garage style cabinets because a rolling tool box like Craftsman really won't work in my garage. Anyone know which brand(s) I should stay away from. You can't always believe the reviews that are posted on the companies web-sites. Thanks.
Hi. I'm trying to pimp up my garage this summer, was wondering what would be a good flooring for it? The room is a game room / sports room....I have a ping pong table, dartboard, tv, sports photos, etc.... So I'm looking for recommendations about which specific flooring or carpeting would be good for it and what store I could pick it up at? Thanks. edit: Mainly I'm looking for what material for the floor works best in the garage.
I want to cover my garage floor. What's the best product to use. I dont want to pay out the nose, but I do want it to look good and last. Both of my cars are in good shape meaning there's no oil leaks. Not at this time anyways.
We got our first house and really know nothin about garage floors besides the fact that ours was very dirty. I decided to paint it like you would paint a wall. And well, yeah, that was a dumb idea. Paint began to wear and oil stains are show through the paint ( shoulda removed them first). Well i want to get my garage floor done with epoxy. Just wondering how much the cost would be for a 400 sq ft garage., with major oil stains and cracking on bottom lining to the wall.
My garage has an old and draughty up and over door and during the recent storms has let in rain and loads of trash. What would be a good replacement, are roller doors draught proof and secure? There are lots of websites that will sell you stuff but very little unbiased info.
What size opening for a garage door can a full size truck fit through. My space is very limited.
Are you familiar with Wayne Dalton, CHI, or Amarr brand of garage doors? We are shopping for a new door or even new panels.
I am trying to build a singe at garage next to our house and i can't find any plans on the internet for free. Does anyone know any good free sites with reliable plans? Sry, a typo. I meant to say I'm trying to build a single car garage next to our house. Thanks for anyones help.
I am going to move in with my son, and we want to turn the garage into my living space. It needs to include a bathroom, but not a kitchen. I am looking for some floor plans to make the best of my 2 car garage home.
I am currently looking for a guide to building garage shelving units. Not looking for anything too complex, just something I will be able to store boxes and so forth on. Something I can anchor to the wall but does not need to be anchored to the ceiling or floor. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have a driveway that runs for about 12 foot up the side of my house. Theres a fence on the left and the side of my house on the right. Im wondering If I can build a garage here, and if are there any regulations on how wide the garage must be, and how far away from the fence. I really dont have much room to work with, but I have a sports car and so I dont need it to be that wide. Any ideas on cost too? I did consider a concrete garage but they look a bit naff. Id much prefer a brick built garage with one side built onto the house, and the other flush to the fence Thanks
I live in jasper county(newton) iowa and would like to build a garage connecting onto the front of my existing garage. Does anyone know where i can find this information either online or by calling? If so where? I have a ranch with an integrated garage and I want to build the new one over part of my big driveway, can it be a 2 stall, how close can I build to the property line?
I am doing a presentation for work on garage organization. I just need some number to go along with it.
I am planning on organizing a block garage sale for my neighborhood in late May. I want to stick flyers in mail boxes, however I do not know the best way to word/format the flyer. I want to know beforehand who is interested in participating, and also big sale items that I can list in the paper. Any advice on the format of the flyer/organization of this event would be appreciated!
I am trying to build a workbench in my garage and I was wondering what dimensions worked for others that have built one. Thanks I need to know the height, width and depth. Thanks
ok, so i'm planning on building a good workbench for my garage that will go along the wall under the peg board. I want it to a good quality, but not too expensive. I don't have any plans, so if you could help me out here, then I would apprciate it... what type of lumber should i use and why? how much should it cost? what tools are necessary for this? and the obvious...how do i build it. thanks for reading.
Contractors are installing a 22x24 foot metal garage in my backyard on a concrete slab. The lady who scheduled the installation said that if I provide the caulk they could seal it as well. Looking at some popular home improvement sites I discovered that there are a whole bunch of different types of caulk. Which would be best to use to seal a metal garage to a concrete slab? Thanks.
I'd like to paint my garage door. It's metal and sectioned (3 sections). What's the easiest way to paint it? What type of paint should I use? Thanks!
I need to get it off because it looks a bit like blood. The garage door is metal and painted white. Is there anything I can use to get the paint off without harming the other paint?
Our garage you can only park one car in their but not have enough room opening the door and getting out. The other side is a mess. What is the best way to organize it? Now that its getting warm again we can clean it out but how do we organize it? Its a 2 car garage! We are having great weather Blondie!my plants are coming up too! i can't wait for those!
I have alot of stuff to sell. How should I organize it. How much should I price things. I know to price low so they sell, but I want to make sure I get some good money for things. Also, my friend had a garage sell a month ago and said people were trying to change the price tags and stuff so they get it cheaper. How can I avoid that situation?

My neighbor had a garage addition added to his home, it was attached the home in an "L" shaped corner where the home exists. Since the garage sat inside the "L" he used bolts and bolted a large board to the existing home, then the trusses on the inside of this "L" portion were added. Well this side of the home already was supporting two full stories. The Garage added more, for an already under built corner support. Well, my neighbor was sitting in his home last night and starting hearing some crackling sounds, as he went out to investigate, you guessed it, the corner wall, garage roof, and about 1/4 of his home caved in. It was bad. The builder said he is not responsible since it was 2 years ago he built it and the warranty was only 1 year. So is this an insurance claim or what? Is the builder liable even though the warranty expired, or is my neighbor screwed? I would guess there is $100 K in damages.
Its on a ranch house, standard crawl space from what I know. We're wondering if you can add a 2 car attached garage on a slab foundation with this scenerio. Also, if you could give me a vague idea of how much this might cost, that would be great. Thanks!
I have been thinking about adding a master bed/bath/closet over my garage (approx. 400sf). It needs to be fitted to hold floors of course as I have just rafters there now. Does anyone know the average price per square feet for an addition like this in Seattlle?
